Steak Escape of Trace Fork is a popular chain that serves cheesesteak sandwiches in the Charleston County area. It is also known for its grilled sandwiches and has a drive-thru and a delivery option. However, during the June 9 routine inspection conducted by the health department, the inspectors found four separate violations.
The first violation noted by the inspector was the absence of a record of inspection or servicing for a water filter situated in the back of the house. The restaurant was instructed to establish a routine inspection and servicing schedule to ensure safe drinking water for the establishment.
Three other core violations were also identified. The first was the lack of hair restraints for the food workers at the eatery. The restaurant was cited for not ensuring food workers wore proper hair restraints such as hats, nets, and beard covers.
The establishment also had general cleaning issues. The floors throughout the facility were visibly dirty. Moreover, the ventilation air ducts were dirty. Staff are responsible for regularly cleaning the premises to maintain sanitary conditions.
Additional notes stated that all equipment was maintained at the correct temperatures. Food items were stored between 30°F and 41°F. The cooked beef was measured at 197°F. Furthermore, the chlorine levels in the three-bowl sink were measured at an acceptable 100 ppm.
Follow-up Requirements
As per the inspection report, the establishment is expected to address all violations. The inspection team will be returning on June 23, 2025, for a reinspection of the premises of Steak Escape of Trace Fork. The establishment may face further action or closure if violations remain unresolved.
