Lola’s Pizza is an eatery that serves handmade, Neapolitan-style pizzas along with signature pies. The restaurant is set in a small house on the South Hills area of Charleston and includes a patio space.
During the health inspection on Wednesday, the restaurant was cited for a total of four unresolved violations, three being core items. There was also one core item violation that was resolved during the inspection.
Reported Violations
The report stated that the Person in Charge (PIC) failed to ensure that all employees had valid food handler cards. The report instructed to obtain the FHCs for all employees as corrective action.
Another violation was reported as the Food Protection Manager’s cards was not available for viewing during the inspection. The food protection manager cards must also be obtained to correct the issue.
In issues regarding cleanliness, sections of the flooring and walls required general cleaning. Areas of the flooring in the kitchen were observed to be in need of thorough repair. As corrective action, it was instructed that physical facilities are cleaned frequently and maintained in good condition.
Another violation noted was that employee medications were improperly stored in the kitchen. However, this issue was corrected by moving the personal care items to the area designated for employee belongings.
Follow-Up Scheduled
The inspection report for Lola’s Pizza stated that a follow-up inspection is required at the establishment. The follow-up inspection is scheduled for May 28, 2025.
According to health department regulations, the restaurant must correct all the violations cited within the allowed time frames. The limit for priority foundation violations is 10 calendar days.
