A popular Savannah wing spot is turning up the heat with a move to a new location this February.
520 Wings, owned by Gary Gordon, will move just down the street from its current location at 2705 Bull St. to 2701 Bull St., the shift comes as Gordon takes ownership of the building.
“That was always one of my goals, for me to own the building,” Gordon told What Now Charleston. “I’m excited about the new building–the construction, preserving the old 1940s Gulf gas station. It’s exciting to tie old in with new.”
520 Wings will bring the same menu fans love to its new location, serving both bone-in and boneless wings in flavors like mild, lemon pepper, sweet & tangy, garlic parmesan, honey BBQ, hot honey mustard, and teriyaki.
In addition to its acclaimed wings, the eatery offers chicken, shrimp and salmon alfredos, cheesesteaks, gyros, po’boys, salads, burgers, and fried fish and shrimp combo meals.
The new location will introduce a pilot program to test new menu items.
“We’re going to do a test pilot on the weekend with brunch. We’ll have Southern dishes–shrimp and grits, fish and grits, chicken and waffles, seafood hashbrowns and a brunch burger.”
Business filings show the restaurant recently received approval for a liquor license.
“Right now, we just have frozen daiquiris, but we are talking about bringing back our famous Jamaican rum punch. That’s a crowd favorite,” Gordon said.
Additionally, Gordon said if the brunch test proves successful, he plans to update the liquor license to allow beer and wine service, including breakfast cocktails like mimosas.
520 Wings opened in 2011, and its name comes from Gordon’s birthday, May 20.
“He grew up in the same district where the restaurant is located. He has known many of his regular customers all of his life. He enjoys being in his community and happy to offer a product that he is proud of,” the website reads.
Gordon aims to relocate and open 520 Wings by the end of February. Follow along on Instagram and Facebook or visit its website for updates.
