Sissy Bar, a new concept by the same founders of Dalila’s, is moving into Three Sirens’ former space at 1067 East Montague Ave in North Charleston. Owner Michael Whiteley said the bar and restaurant should be open by mid-March.

“It’s kind of like Dalila’s if Dalila’s also had really great food,” Whitely told What Now Charleston. Dalila’s is a 1950s-inspired bar and lounge offering seasonal, Caribbean-inspired cocktails in the heart of Charleston.

“Overall, the space will have a SoCal, West Coast easy rider vibe,” said Whiteley. “The cocktail menu will be tequila and mezcal focused. And we’ll have elevated bar food with a lot of Mexican, Asian and classic American influences, including smash burgers, burritos, Baja fish tacos and shareable appetizers.”

Sissy Bar’s namesake draws from two meanings. One being Whiteley’s two 10-month-old identical twins, who he says he and his partner refer to as “sissies.” A “sissy bar” also references the bar bikers put on the back of their motorcycles so that passengers (i.e. their sister) can recline while riding on the back.

Whiteley said the bar also plans to have vinyl DJs and brunch every Sunday, plus industry focused pop-ups to partner with outside bartenders and chefs.
