A new addition to Charleston’s culinary scene is on the horizon as plans for Stono’s Oyster Bar, a new seafood restaurant, were submitted to the Charleston Design Review Committee.

Nestled on the Stone River with marsh views, this upcoming dining spot is located at 409 Maybank Highway on John’s Island.

The land is under the ownership of Coastal Marinas LLC, the proprietors of St. John’s Yacht Harbor and several local yacht clubs and marinas. Additionally, the architecture behind Stono’s Oyster Bar is credited to the team at Kevan Hoertdoerfer Architects.

The space spans two floors, with a total area of 9,088 square feet, which includes an outdoor deck area. Mixing functionality with contemporary design, the renderings indicate the eatery will accommodate diverse party sizes with a variety of seating options — from intimate two-tops for smaller gatherings to spacious tables for group dining.

An official opening date remains undisclosed, Mike B. Shuler Jr., the owner of Stono’s Oyster Bar, did not immediately respond to What Now Charleston’s request for comment.
