Nestled behind a looming live oak at 294 Parkersville Rd in Pawleys Island stands a little yellow building with a big personality.

Owner and local school teacher Stephanie Daniels is preparing to launch her new takeout eatery, Abuela’s House, in that charming yellow building, previously home to Mr. Norman’s Carryout.

Though not officially open yet, Daniels has offered locals a preview of what’s to come with several soft launches over the past few weeks. However, Abuela’s House is now temporarily closed as the team finalizes preparations for the grand opening.

The takeout spot will feature a menu full of Caribbean- and Spanish-style soul food dishes, cooked just “the way grandma made it.” Expect unique options like Jamaican beef patties, smash burgers, jerk chicken, Rasta pasta, and more—all crafted with the warmth and care only a doting grandmother can provide.

While an official grand opening date hasn’t been set, supporters can help move the process forward by donating to the Abuela’s House GoFundMe or sharing the eatery’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
