The Blu Oyster on Johns Island is rebranding as Blu Smoke Pit Barbecue this fall, following its March reopening with a new executive chef and a shift away from raw offerings.
The new barbecue spot will remain at 1804 Crowne Commons Way, trading its seafood focus for smoked meats.
“Blu Oyster has closed its doors, and we’re beyond excited to welcome you to our next chapter: Blu Smoke Pit Barbecue. We’ve transformed the space into Johns Island’s newest spot for barbecue, oysters, and good times,” the restaurant shared via Facebook.
The barbecue joint plans to serve brisket, beef cheeks and “every other thing that matters in a barbecue restaurant.”
The spot will feature 20 bar-screen TVs just in time for NFL and college football season, along with a new patio bar and outdoor seating. For a family-friendly touch, an indoor arcade will entertain the kids.
An official opening date hasn’t been announced, but the team invites guests to check the restaurant’s website and follow its social media for updates.
What Now Charleston reached out to Blu Smoke Pit Barbecue, however, they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
