The Darling Oyster Bar, a vintage seafood restaurant in the heart of downtown Charleston, is expanding to Savannah.
Owned by Robert Young, the restaurant is known for its fresh seafood, carefully crafted cocktails and Sunday brunch. The new location will open at 27 Montgomery Street.
“Celebrating the bounty of the sea, the rhythm of the seasons, and the joy of savored moments shared daily,” the restaurant’s website reads.
The Darling emphasizes locally sourced, sustainable ingredients and offers a menu going beyond seafood to please all palates.
The raw bar features a rotating selection of oysters, along with items such as oyster shooters, house smoked salmon dip and baked crab dip.
Brunch, served Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., highlights seafood dishes like shrimp and grits, crab cake Benedict and a seafood frittata. Lighter options include avocado toast and a green salad, while sides such as hush puppies and a blueberry biscuit complement the meal.
Entrees include seared diver scallops, fried half chicken and blue crab tagliatelle. Sandwiches feature a lobster roll, fried chicken sandwich and classic burger. Fry baskets, with shrimp, fish or oysters, are also available.
The drink menu offers inventive cocktails such as the “Siren,” made with tequila, Strega and lime, and the “Darling Fashioned,” a bourbon-based drink with charred cane syrup. Draft beers are also offered.
The oyster bar recently received an approval for an alcoholic beverage license during a Savannah City Council meeting.
While an official opening date has not yet been announced, visit the restaurant’s website or follow Darling Oyster Bar on Facebook or Instagram for updates.
