The Charleston Place is reimagining its culinary scene with the upcoming closure of Charleston Grill, a fine dining staple in the heart of downtown since 1989.
The restaurant will close after dinner service on August 23.
The move marks a new chapter for The Charleston Place, which has been owned by Ben Navarro’s Beemok Hospitality Collection since 2021. The closure paves the way for a broader transformation of the hotel’s food and beverage offerings.
Charleston Grill has long served as both a renowned dining destination and a gathering place for celebrations and memorable meals.
“From the acclaimed leadership of Executive Chef Michelle Weaver and restaurateur Mickey Bakst, to the many dedicated team members who brought warmth, grace and excellence to every service, the legacy of Charleston Grill is one we celebrate with immense pride and heartfelt gratitude,” said Casey Lavin, president of BHC, in a statement.
According to a press release, a new dining concept is in the works, and in the meantime, guests can look forward to a unique pop-up experience debuting in the coming months.
Charleston Grill isn’t the only restaurant undergoing change. A PR spokesperson confirmed to What Now Charleston the closure is part of a broader, phased transformation of all the hotel’s dining venues. Over the next few years, The Palmetto Cafe, Thoroughbred Club and Meeting at Market will also receive new names and refreshed concepts.
“We don’t have any additional information to share at this time regarding the restaurants,” the spokesperson said.
What Now Charleston will continue to follow this story and share updates as they become available.
