An upscale wine bar is set to open in Mount Pleasant this fall.

Charlotte’s Wine Bar and Tapas, owned by Lynn Fleer, will open at 320 W. Coleman Blvd., in the former Sheffield’s Wine Bar space.

Fleer told What Now Charleston the space will get a facelift and new atmosphere, while still offering a curated wine program and small plates, similar to what was previously offered at the location.

“We want to do something a little bit high-end,” Fleer said. “Do some live music and cigar nights for men and paint nights for ladies, charcuterie classes. I want to create a girls night out, a date night spot but also some fun activities people can be a part of in the community.”

Fleer said the interior will feature rich tones like black and gold, velvet drapes with tassels, and a mix of classic and eclectic touches.

Guests will find a variety of seating options, from cozy booths and casual lounge chairs to high-top bar stools and tables for small groups

The menu is still in development but will highlight a variety of creative items. Guests can expect flatbreads prepared by a local chef.

Fleer, a longtime business owner, said the inspiration for Charlotte’s comes from her passion for wine and desire to connect with others. She and her husband have traveled extensively, visiting wineries and speaking with winemakers around the world.

Most recently, they visited France, where they discovered sparkling wines they hope to feature at the bar.

“Being able to bring those nice wines here and have stories about these vineyards to actually share with customers is exciting,” she said. “Building experiences, memories and friendships with your clients is always my favorite part.”

Charlotte’s plans to offer a mix of U.S. and international wines.

“There are a lot of French and Italian wines, but there’s so many other countries that do amazing wines as well, so we really want to cover it all,” Fleer said.

In addition to special events, the bar will launch a wine club for customers.

An exact opening date has not been announced, but Charlotte’s Wine Bar and Tapas is aiming for a mid-September debut. It will be open daily starting at 11 a.m.
