The Point Hope community on the Cainhoy Peninsula will welcome its first taproom this fall.

Todd & Tessa Miller plan to open their Community Crafthouse in the building known as the Hub, at heart of the expansive new mixed-use Point Hope community off Clements Ferry Road near Daniel Island.

The laidback venue will serve food, beer and wine. Tessa Miller told What Now Charleston that the menu will start small, serving bar food classics like pretzels and nachos, but they plan to expand it in the future. Their bar will offer 18 taps, around 20 cans, a frosé machine, and a selection of non-alcoholic beer options.

“With the Point Hope community growing, what’s lacking there is a place for people to come together,” said Miller. With that in mind, she says they’re creating a space with “a little bit for everybody;” TVs for sports fans, a cozy hangout for singles, and a large green space for families with children.

Point Hope is a master-planned mixed-use community featuring single-family, multifamily and commercial developments on the 9,000 acre property formerly known as Cainhoy Plantation. The community delivered its first phase in August 2020 and it continues to grow, with the newest phase promised in early 2024.

Construction on the Community Crafthouse is expected to move quickly once permits are granted, and the pair are planning for a Mid-November grand opening.
