It looks like Dairy Queen Grill & Chill is officially coming to James Island.
Recent permits filed with the city show that signage is being installed at the eatery on the former Subway site at 345 Folly Rd. The Subway building has been demolished to make way for the new and improved Dairy Queen.
The property owner, JEM Restaurant Group—which operates over 100 Taco Bell and Pizza Hut locations across South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama—confirmed this news with What Now Charleston.
Don Willis, JEM’s VP of Real Estate & Development, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating that they are thrilled to “see this fantastic business come to the James Island community!”
With over 5,700 locations in 30 countries, Dairy Queen is celebrated for its Blizzard—a soft-serve ice cream treat mixed with sundae toppings, cookies, brownies, or candy. The menu also features burgers, chicken, sundaes, banana splits, and a variety of other sweet treats.
Dairy Queen’s Grill & Chill locations boast modern open-air dining, distinct “Grill” and “Chill” sections, comfortable booths, large tables, warm lighting, music, and an efficient drive-thru service lane.
An opening date for the new eatery has not yet been announced, so keep an eye out for updates on this exciting new addition to James Island’s fast food scene.
