Kansas-based fast food chain Freddy’s Custard and Steakburgers is preparing to break ground on a new Goose Creek location this fall, with a grand opening expected for early 2024.
The local franchisee for the brand, Derek DeVera, opened the region’s first Freddy’s in Summerville in 2021. The Goose Creek location is the next in his seven-store plan, with three more locations planned for Charleston along with one in Walterboro and another in Beaufort County, according to earlier reporting by Post and Courier.
The Goose Creek Freddy’s will join new development Carnes Crossroads at the corner of Carnes Crossing Blvd and North Main Street. Other tenants planned in the complex include Harris Teeter, Sherwin-Williams, and Dunkin’ Donuts.
Freddy’s currently has 480 locations across 36 states, with plans to bring that total to 500 before the end of 2023. The chain is best known for its frozen custard treats, which it prepares in shakes, malts, sandwiches, bowls and take-home pints and quarts. It also offers a range of lunch and dinner options and a line of signature “Famous Fry Sauce.”
Permits are still pending for the Goose Creek Freddy’s, but a representative shared with What Now Charleston that they hope to break ground this November, with a goal of opening their doors by April of next year.
