Giacobbe’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, a brand-new Italian concept, will open in Downtown Moncks Corner at 108 W. Railroad Ave.
This is the latest from Giacobbe Scotto and his wife, Rachel, who both fell in love with Moncks Corner from day one, according to the company’s Facebook. The duo are from a small town called Bacoli, less than 13 miles from Napoli. While the restaurant is under construction, the owners hope to open the first Giacobbe’s in August 2025. The restaurant will feature New York and Sicilian-style pizzas, great lunch specials, a bar, and wood-fired pizza once a week.
Giacobbe tells What Now Charleston that he and his wife chose to land Giacobbe’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria in Moncks Corners after having a long history with it. This is where Rachel lived when the two first started dating, and Giacobbe still lived in Florida. The two would visit the area for its small-town feel and to escape the fast-growing Summersville.
Giacobbe also grew up in a household that loved to cook, such as his father, who would make his tomato sauce for the whole year in Italy before eventually opening his own restaurant. After growing up surrounded by delicious Italian food, the Scottos knew they had to eventually open a restaurant offering these dishes, which aren’t so common in Moncks Corner. Giacobbe tells What Now Charleston that he hopes this is the first of many locations for the concept but will see how the community reacts to it once it opens. While pizza will be the highlight of this concept, Giacobbe’s will also serve seafood, steaks, pasta, and more.
“[I] cannot thank everyone enough for the warm welcome,” according to the company’s social media. “[I am] looking forward to giving you all my best. The project will include an outdoor area with benches and kids’ entertainment so you can enjoy some food while overlooking the kids having fun playing. As everything is still a work in progress, we are definitely reading every single comment and making sure we will give you exactly what the town needs! There are lots of options to choose from, that’s for sure.
