A new butcher shop is preparing to open its doors on Johns Island in early 2024.

High Steaks is currently upfitting a space at 706 Halcyon Loop in a new commercial development called Hayes Park.

The butcher shop is the work of two cousins local to Charleston. What Now Charleston spoke with one co-owner, who said the idea was born by bringing together his experience in business management and hunting with his cousin’s background as a professional chef and butcher. Inspired by growth in the area, the source said the pair recognized a need for quality food on Johns Island and wanted to share their passion for bringing people together around the table.

High Steaks will offer Certified Angus and fresh local grass-fed beef, as well as organic chicken, pork, lamb, and house-made sausages. They’ll also offer ready-to-go sides to provide customers with a grill-ready meal.

Hayes Park is a planned mixed-use community from New Leaf Builders that plans to offer 56 single-family and townhome residences when completed. Other commercial tenants will include Opal Aesthetics, Jimmy John’s, Grace Frederick Design, and Somm Wine Bar, which opened over the summer.

A co-owner told What Now Charleston that High Steaks is planning on a mid-January opening. Before then, you can catch them at the Holy Smokes BBQ Festival and follow them on Facebook or Instagram for updates.
