A New York-style bagel shop is expanding its footprint across the Lowcountry.
Matt Immerfall told What Now Charleston he and partner Matt Andrews plan to open 26 Jeff’s Bagel Run locations across South Carolina and Georgia, starting with several in Charleston.
“I love the product,” Immerfall said. “It’s just nice to sell products that are really tasty and super fresh–that’s what makes Jeff’s unique is that we make our bagels fresh in the bakery every single day at each location.”
The team opened two locations earlier this year—one at 1721 Clements Ferry Road near Daniel Island and another at 1400 Palm Boulevard on the Isle of Palms. As previously reported by What Now Charleston, they’re now preparing to launch three additional shops, with new details recently emerging.
The West Ashley shop at 1180 Bees Ferry Road plans to open Wednesday, July 16, pending inspections. Immerfall said the first 100 customers from July 16 to 18 will receive a free bagel and spread along with Jeff’s Bagel Run merchandise.
In Mount Pleasant, the team plans to open a store at 1710 Shoremade Road, Unit 440, in Indigo Square across from Towne Centre by late July or early August.
Construction also just began on a location at 923 Folly Road on James Island. The location is planned to open later this year.
Jeff’s Bagel Run is known for its “always boiled, never toasted” bagels. Flavors include Rosemary Salt, Asiago Everything and Cinnamon Raisin.
“Our secret sauce is the hot bagel,” Immerfall said. “We kind of encourage people when they’re coming up to the register to ask what’s hot. Once you’ve had a hot bagel that just came out of the oven, it’ll change your view. Once you’ve got a hot bagel, you forget a toaster exists.”
Guests can choose from more than a dozen house-made spreads such as Plain, Chive & Onion, Banana Pudding, Cake Batter and Roasted Jalapeño.
“It’s fun to mix and match them [the bagels and spread], so you can try different things each time. I love the banana pudding cream cheese—it’s one of my favorites,” Immerfall said. “I always partner that one with a salt bagel, which is unique.”
The shop also serves craft coffee from Otus, flavored cold brews, seasonal lattes like Pumpkin Spice and Banana Bread, house-made lemonades and sweet treats including s’mores bars.
Jeff and Danielle Perera founded the brand in 2019 in Winter Garden, Florida, as a home-based operation during the pandemic. Jeff began delivering bagels to friends and neighbors before opening the first brick-and-mortar store in Ocoee, Florida, in June 2021.
Jeff’s Bagel Run operates daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
