K1 Speed, the national entertainment company with high-speed go-kart racing and an on-site restaurant, is preparing to open a new location in Charleston.

Currently, the thrill-seeking experience is only found in South Carolina at Myrtle Beach, but by the end of the year, Charleston will have another location. A representative from the company tells What Now Charleston that this location is expected to open in November or December 2025, featuring a challenging indoor track, adult and junior electric karts, the paddock lounge restaurant, and meeting rooms for events. K1 Speed is also expanding with new locations in California, Colorado, Georgia, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Texas, as well as international sites in Canada, France, and Scotland.

“Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping experience like never before! K1 Speed, the ultimate indoor go-kart racing destination, is coming soon to Charleston, South Carolina,” according to the company’s website. “Here’s what you’ll be able to expect: Thrill-seekers, racing enthusiasts, and families alike, brace yourselves for the most exhilarating racing adventure you’ve ever encountered. With state-of-the-art electric go-karts, K1 Speed offers an eco-friendly and high-performance driving experience that will leave you breathless. Feel the rush of speed as you navigate through challenging twists and turns on our professionally designed indoor tracks, ensuring maximum excitement and safety for all.”

Guests at K1 Speed can recharge at the Paddock Lounge, a full-service restaurant-style eatery offering a diverse menu for the whole family, including pizza, wings, smoked brisket nachos, and bratwurst. Dessert options include chocolate lava cake and freshly baked cookies. The lounge also features an extensive beverage menu, with sodas and energy drinks for those under 21 and a selection of beer and wine for adults after racing.

“So what makes K1 Speed unique? First off, every one of our locations, located throughout the United States from Southern California to Southern Florida, is entirely self-contained,” according to the company’s website. “Our indoor go-kart racing locations, including our Charleston location in South Carolina, allow individuals to race every day of the year, regardless of weather. Rain, snow, sleet, or blistering heat, driving enthusiasts can come to K1 Speed, escape the weather, and start racing!”
