An upscale French eatery with a Lowcountry twist is branching out from its original Knightsville location to include a second spot. La Cuisine Du Chevalier, affectionately known as “La Chev,” hopes to open in Downtown Summerville at 208 E 1st N St by the end of May 2024. Owner Jason Tucker informed What Now Charleston that he is presently awaiting the design for the sprinkler system and approval from the state to determine a more precise opening date.
Tucker recently announced this exciting expansion, sharing photos of the charming new locale, which was once a residential property: “We are going to be expanding as soon as the conversion into a restaurant is complete!” Tucker said. “We are also going to be adding an outdoor space in that big beautiful backyard. Stay tuned for weekly updates and projected opening dates.”
While the original La Chev site will continue to serve patrons, it’s also slated for a refresh, though details about the updates remain under wraps for now.
Renowned for its fusion of fine French fare with a dash of Lowcountry flair, La Chev’s menu boasts lunch and dinner delights such as Lowcountry Bouillabaisse, Roasted Chickpea Ratatouille, and the Parisian Pot Roast Baguette. Additionally, the eatery offers an array of starters and salads, as well as an extensive wine selection.
