What began as a cafe honoring veterans and serving standout coffee is now opening its second location in Conway.
Retired Marine David Steadman will open Liberty Brew Coffee at 1801 Main St. next year.
“I wanted a spot where veterans could be honored, a safe place. There are a lot of memories on the walls, but also a place to have a great cup of coffee—high premium coffee that makes you go, ‘Wow! This is real coffee.’ That’s how this adventure all started,” Steadman told What Now Charleston.
The original outpost, or “headquarters,” sits at 3080 Highway SC-90 and is complemented by two active food trucks. The new location will operate as a drive-thru hub with outdoor seating.
“There won’t be an internal, but the external will be in the Liberty Brew fashion. When you pull up, you’ll know that you’re going to be at Liberty Brew with red, white and blue–just an American-type feel,” Steadman said.
He continued, “We’ll have a sitting area outside with some nice sail-type overhangs. We’ll also have a memorial wall that will have local community members on it along with any of the nonprofits we work with.”
The coffee shop partners with local nonprofits, hosting events like Bingo nights with all proceeds benefiting the organization. While they focus on supporting local veterans, they’ve also recently collaborated with a women’s center and A Father’s Place.
Liberty Brew will keep its menu the same at the new location, offering classic coffee, espresso, teas and matcha. The menu will feature “freedom favorites,” including the Liberty Campfire Mocha, cinnamon bun latte, iced shaken caramel cinnamon espresso and salted caramel toffee latte. The shop also has a “Brew Crew” initiative, where employees create their own signature drinks.
“We do something special at Liberty Brew, where we have our baristas come up with their own drink. Of course, we have kind of a contest—who sells the most of whose drink. They get a little bonus of being ‘Drink of the Month,’ so it’s a nice giveback to our baristas,” he said.
The food menu includes breakfast sandwiches and burritos, bagels, jalapeño bacon cheddar flatbread, frittatas and a variety of baked goods.
The expansion was inspired by a desire to connect with the other side of Conway and strengthen community outreach.
“I’m excited we’ll be able to connect with even more people and then have even more of an impact on the local community, nonprofits and veterans,” Steadman said.
Liberty Brew Coffee plans to debut in summer 2026, though an official opening date has not been announced. Visit the shop’s website and follow it on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
