A new pastry shop is headed for West Ashley, the work of local baker DaVee Harned.
Little Peanut Pastries is scheduled to open at 2408 Ashley River Road, a space previously occupied by St. Honoré Pastry, this November.
Harned has made a local name for herself with her extravagant cakes and pastries. After attending Johnson & Wales for culinary school, she began her career at The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island. Since then, she’s worked at a host of popular Charleston restaurants, including Millers All Day, Pawpaw, WildFlour, and Sweets & Treats. In 2013, she made an appearance on the Food Network show Beat Bobby Flay.
Harned has been operating Little Peanut Pastries out of a commissary kitchen, selling wholesale product through local retailers like Caviar and Bananas, Kudu, Muddy Waters, Brown Fox Coffee and Charleston Coffee Exchange. She named the venture after a nickname given to her by her father.
Now, she’s on her way to opening her first brick-and-mortar. According to reporting by Post and Courier, the new location will serve the same popular pastries: muffins, scones, biscuits and cookies; along with new items including seasonal cakes and desserts. The bakery will have limited seating and a large production space.
