Permits filed with the city indicate that Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream & Sandwich Cafe is gearing up to open its eighth Lowcountry location at 832 Foundation St in Charleston.
Spanning 3,341 square feet, the space will undergo an interior renovation, featuring indoor booth seating, outdoor patio seating, and a designated standing/queuing area. Once complete, the cafe will accommodate up to 142 patrons. It will not have a drive-thru.
Since its establishment in 1972 by founder Rod Lapin, Ye Ole Fashioned has become a beloved fixture in the Lowcountry. The original West Ashley cafe paved the way for expansion, with the brand now boasting six additional restaurants in the region.
According to a report from The Post and Courier, Cole Spradling will oversee the new ice cream shop. Spradling, who also manages another Ye Ole Fashioned location, has been eager to expand into the rapidly developing Cainhoy peninsula.
From its humble beginnings as a neighborhood eatery offering hotdogs and ice cream, Ye Ole Fashioned has evolved into a local fast-casual staple. The menu now features a diverse array of American classics, ranging from burgers, hot dogs, and chicken fingers to crinkle-cut fries, salads, and sandwiches. A standout favorite is the signature BLT sandwich, which is generously loaded with ten slices of bacon.
Spradling said the new Ye Ole Fashioned location should open sometime this November.
