The Charleston Crab House, a South Carolina-based eatery located on Market Street, Shem Creek, James Island, and its sister concepts, has officially changed owners.

After 30-plus years of serving southern hospitality, original owner John Keener, a pioneer in the Charleston restaurant scene for over 40 years, is passing the torch to current CEO Scott Larymore, according to the Charleston Daily. Larymore started working with The Charleston Crab House in 2005 as a busboy and has since worked his way up the restaurant ranks to CEO. Now, Larymore will become the owner of the restaurant group.

Scott and his wife, Lauren, will own and operate all five locations: Charleston Crab House on James Island, Charleston Crab House on Market Street, Oyster House, Shem Creek Crab House, AW Shucks Seafood Shack, and The Porch event space. Keener will remain involved as an advisor and mentor to ensure a smooth transition and continued success. Kim Jackson, the 32-year-old CFO, will also retain her current position.

This marks a significant change for the Charleston Crab House, which has been family-owned and operated for over 27 years. Keener and his wife, Brandy, plan to enjoy their well-deserved retirement by traveling and enjoying the fruits of their 40 years of service to the Charleston community. Larymore tells What Now Charleston that there will be some subtle changes to the menus, decor, and other minor things. All the restaurants offer fast-casual, delicious seafood, with indoor and outdoor seating options.
