Arkansas-based chicken restaurant Slim Chickens is bringing their first Charleston-area location in October.

A new building is currently under construction on North US Hwy 52 between Doctors Care and the Parks Plaza shopping center to house the restaurant.

Franchisees Jody and Larry Chandler inked a deal with Slim Chickens in 2021 to bring nine restaurants to South Carolina, across the markets of Florence, Myrtle Beach and Charleston. This will be the first Charleston-area restaurant to come from the plan. The Chandlers have a depth of experience in franchising, having opened more than 30 Firehouse Subs throughout the Carolinas.

Slim Chickens currently has about 175 locations across 33 states and has more than 750 locations in development, according to an earlier report. The restaurant prides itself on its high-quality ingredient chicken tenders and 17-house made dipping sauces, used in a variety of menu items from wraps to chicken and waffles.
