The long-standing Wendy's location has changed hands, but sources report that a long-term lease is in place, meaning the brand will continue to operate there.

A Mount Pleasant fast food restaurant recently changed hands.

Gary McLaurin, a Columbia entrepreneur with ties to Charleston, recently purchased the Wendy’s at 361 Johnnie Dodds Blvd, at the entrance of the Harris Teeter-anchored Village Point Shopping Center.

McLaurin bought the property for $3.22 million under an LLC registered to his name, according to land records. McLaurin is the CEO and founder of Columbia-based Allegiance Industries, a janitorial company, and serves on the board of directors for the South Carolina Aquarium in Downtown Charleston, according to earlier reporting by Post and Courier.

DeWees Real Estate Group handled the transaction. A DeWees representative told What Now Charleston that the purchase is a long-term lease investment and will remain a Wendy’s restaurant.

The 1.7-acre site was previously owned by Divall Insured Income Properties for over 30 years.
