Joe and Diana Walker are expanding their footprint in the Ashley River Road strip center with a new multi-concept venture.
According to The Post and Courier, the couple recently took over the former Taco Bartina space and plan to divide the 2,200-square-foot unit into three distinct concepts: a corner store, a public co-working space and an Italian restaurant.
The Italian restaurant is still in development, but The Corner Store is expected to open in June, with the remaining concepts to follow.
Joe Walker brings prior restaurant experience, having previously run Studio 8 on James Island. The Walkers also operate two other businesses in the same strip center, next to each other: Shift Pilates Body Shop and Café Roca, which opened in February.
Café Roca serves a breakfast and lunch menu featuring dishes like avocado toast, seared tuna bowls, egg wontons, and sourdough sandwiches made with bread from Radical Bread Co., alongside coffee sourced from Riptide Coffee in North Charleston, the outlet reported.
What Now Charleston has reached out to the Walkers for more information on the upcoming Italian restaurant and will share updates as they become available.
