A new bar is slated to open at the North Charleston spot where Coney Island Hot Weiners served customers for nearly four years.

Post and Courier reported this week that local entrepreneur Kaloni Chaney had purchased the business along with a partner for $180,000, buying the equipment and remaining six years on the lease. Chaney plans to open a high-end bar concept, which will be called Chivalry.

Chaney owns local gold consignment business Not Your Mother’s Jewelry & More, and has experience in the Charleston restaurant scene, formerly managing the Vietnamese restaurant Little Miss Ha.

Coney Island Hot Weiners is a Tulsa, Oklahoma-based brand founded in 1926. An additional location still operates in Schertz, Texas. The restaurant opened at 4258 Spruill Ave in North Charleston in June of 2020 as a franchise, the only one to offer alcohol along with its dogs. It’s not clear what led the owners to sell.

Chaney was not available for comment on her plans for the new bar concept, but earlier reports indicate she is targeting a Spring 2024 opening.
