A new lounge and restaurant called Skeeta Beach Lounge is headed for the Mosquito Beach Historic District along King Flats Creek on James Island.
Zoning permits were recently submitted for a building at 2225 Mosquito Beach Road, the former location of Island Breeze, a live event venue and Jamaican restaurant operated by Norma and Norman Lemon that closed in 2020 after three years of business.
Local DJ and entrepreneur Pauleshia Graves is behind the new Skeeta Beach Lounge. According to plans submitted to Charleston County, she plans to offer alcohol and food as well as live music and arts events. Anticipated hours for the venue are 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. from Monday to Sunday, and they expect to hire eight employees. Exact details on what type of food and drink will be offered are not yet available.
As the property is a Historic Preservation Commission parcel, Graves awaits zoning permissions for this use of the parcel and an opening date has not yet been set.
