Southern Cross Hospitality, owned by Anthony Debreceny, is bringing a new concept to Savannah.

Executive chef Max Barbee, a Savannah native who has cooked in James Beard–recognized kitchens across the country, is opening FishBar with partner Ben Agostini.

FishBar, an open-flame restaurant highlighting locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, is set to open at 2218 Bull St.

Supporting the chef in the kitchen will be a custom grill, built in Atlanta by Grills by Demant in collaboration with The Montague Company.

“At the heart of FishBar is a custom-made open fire grill where the guys will cook light, tapas-style plates using the freshest ingredients sourced directly from local fishermen, ranchers and farmers. Oh, and yes… there will absolutely be wine and cocktails!” the restaurant shared via Facebook.

FishBar recently received approval for an alcoholic beverage license during a Savannah City Council meeting. The license permits the restaurant to serve liquor, beer and wine, including on Sundays.

While an exact opening date has not yet been announced, the restaurant said on Facebook, “FishBar will be here soon, and we can’t wait to welcome you around the fire.”

What Now Charleston reached out to the FishBar team, however, they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
