A new bar and restaurant called Red Palm is planned for Charleston’s East Central neighborhood.
Business owner Beau Sliger confirmed to What Now Charleston that the concept, which he describes as an “old-style American tavern,” is scheduled to open before the end of the year at 45 Romney Street. The space, bordered by new developments Atlantic on Romney and the Charleston Tech Center, formerly held Crust Wood-Fired Pizza and Bailey’s Oyster Bar for a little over a year until their closure this summer.
Sliger says he envisions Red Palm as a lively neighborhood hangout where there is “always something going on.” That includes live music four to five nights per week, trivia nights, cornhole and outdoor games on the large covered patio, and classic bar pool and darts inside. The menu he describes as a full, upscale bar menu with a Southern twist.
The venture comes from two Charleston hospitality industry veterans, with Sliger and his partner boasting more than 42 years of combined experience. Sliger says they’re excited to join the growth of the East Side and provide a downtown sanctuary for locals to gather away from the tourism of King Street.
Permits are still in the works and an official opening date has not been set, but the pair are targeting late November or Early December.
