A traditional Mexican bakery is set to open its first brick-and-mortar location on Hilton Head Island this spring.

Pan Casero Bakery will debut in the former Odd Birds space at 1536 Fording Island Rd., bringing a new concept to the location.

“We want to introduce more things to the American business from Mexico,” Co-owner Jesica Chavez told What Now Charleston.

The bakery will focus on freshly made pastries and bread.

“We don’t use machines. We don’t use chemicals. Everything is made by hand,” she said.

The menu will feature croissants, bagels and paninis made on Mexican rolls. Savory sandwiches include ham and cheese, steak, chicken pesto and spicy chicken, while sweet treats include crepes and waffles.

To complement its cafe offerings, Pan Casero Bakery will serve freshly brewed coffee, cold beverages and shaved ice topped with homemade syrups crafted from real fruit.

Chavez said she and her family are looking forward to opening their first storefront.

“I’m excited about opening. I can’t wait. The community loves our bread. We’ve been in business for more than three years, but we were working for someone else. This is our own place. That’s why I’m excited,” she said.

Pan Casero Bakery is currently in a soft opening to give customers a first taste of its pastries. The grand opening has not yet been announced; however, Chavez said, “probably in a month.”
