After opening in 2009, Blu Beach Bar & Grill rode its final wave. On June 17, the Folly Beach staple closed to make way for a bold rebrand: Pinky’s on the Beach.

“We wanted to create something truly shocking — something that would spark joy, laughter, and a sense of play the moment you walk through the doors,” Jon Weitz, co-founder and president of Avocet Hospitality Group, told Holy City Sinner. “And what better way to do that than with a whole lot of pink?”

The space is swapping out the signature blue for an explosion of pink. The interior features pink Cadillac booths, a pink pool table, pinball machines and a custom mural by Girls Who Paint.

According to their website, “Pinky’s on the Beach is Folly’s one-and-only oceanfront bar and eatery — your go-to hangout for sun-soaked sips, snackable bites and laid-back vibes all day long. Roll up straight from the sand, grab a frozen cocktail and let the live music carry you into the evening. With front-row views of the Folly Pier and the Atlantic doing her thing in the background, Pinky’s is the no-brainer beachside hangout you’ll never want to leave.”

The revamped menu offers coastal-inspired comfort food, including chilled crab dip, fried chicken wings and BBQ pork nachos. Diners can also choose from pizzas, salads and signature entrées like shrimp scampi, fish and chips and the market catch — a fresh-caught fish served with fire-roasted corn purée, grilled poblano peppers and corn pico de gallo.

The cocktail list leans into the theme with colorful creations like The Pink Cadillac, Pink Pony Club, Let’s Flamingle and Hu-Go, Girl! Frozen favorites include Malibu Barbie, Cherry Chapstick, Pink Crush and Pool Boy.

To celebrate the rebrand, Pinky’s is throwing a beach bash Saturday. The tiki bar opens at 10 a.m., with live music throughout the day.

Pinky’s on the Beach will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
