A popular New York-style pizza shop is on a roll as it gets ready to open its third location.

Pizza A Modo Mio, owned by Michael Pitera, will soon open at 1937 Clements Ferry Road, with plans to welcome customers by the end of the year. The pizzeria already operates two locations in Charleston and Hollywood.

“This neighborhood holds a special place in my heart—it’s where this entire journey began. Back when Pizza A Modo Mio was just a food truck, my (then) girlfriend and now wife and I would finish our full-time jobs, hook up the trailer, and serve the amazing families right here in these neighborhoods,” Pitera shared via Instagram.

The pizza joint uses authentic New York dough for its pies, serving up both classic and specialty options alongside Detroit, Roman and Sicilian-style pizzas. The menu also features garlic knots, Grandma’s traditional meatballs, wings, salads, rolls and calzones. To top it all off, guests can indulge in fresh cannolis and tiramisu.

The shop recently earned top honors, winning The Post and Courier’s Charleston Choice Award for 2025 and ranking fifth for Best Cheese Pizza in the World at the 2024 International Pizza Expo and Conference.

“The love, support, and positive feedback we received from this community are what pushed us to take the leap into our first brick-and-mortar location. Coming full circle and opening our third shop right where it all started is truly humbling and emotional,” the post continued.

The shop hasn’t announced an official opening date yet, but visitors can check its website and follow on Instagram and Facebook for updates.

What Now Charleston reached out to the Pizza A Modo Mio team, however, they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
