A popular Filipino eatery is set to open its first brick-and-mortar location, bringing traditional flavors to Bohneau.
Roe Roe’s, owned by Rose Ann Meagher, will debut at 904 Black Oak Rd.
“I started with catering and then I branched out to the food truck. I still have those and now it’s the restaurant,” Meagher said. “I’m serving Polynesian Asian-fusion Filipino food. We’re making sure that we’re serving the right food for the community.”
Roe Roe’s will feature seafood, barbecue and hibachi dishes, including steak medallions and shrimp, pork and chicken skewers, and lechon kawali. The menu will also include shrimp and grits, fried pork chops, a double patty smash burger and a Lowcountry boil.
The eatery will offer beer and wine, including bellinis, mimosas and sangrias, as well as a variety of mocktails.
The restaurant’s interior combines an upscale feel with a vibrant island-inspired diner vibe.
“It’s sage, black and white with a lot of gold. This spot has always been a diner and I wanted to elevate it a little bit more than that. I put some windows in, so now it’s bright and lively. We’re near the beach, so I wanted more of an Island type of feel,” she said.
Meagher is excited to bring Roe Roe’s to the community.
“There’s anxiety, but it’s exciting all together,” she said.
The official grand opening is scheduled for Dec. 6, with giveaways and samples for guests.
“There’s a beach Santa, he’s going to come here and take some pictures with families and kids. We’re going to have raffle prizes, free drinks and free meal samplers like hor d’oeuvres. We’re probably going to have a one-man band coming in as well to entertain people,” Meagher said.
