A New York-style bagel shop is on a roll, with plans to open its sixth location. Ruby’s Bagels is coming to Carnes Crossroads in Goose Creek.

Founded in 2022 by Joe Harvey and Kevin Roach along with their wives Denise and Gail, the bagel shop has quickly gained a local following.

“We’re ecstatic to be open there,” Harvey told What Now Charleston. “We’re looking forward to serving all the customers.”

The shop is known for its breakfast sandwiches and offers 20 varieties of bagels, including sweet, savory and cheese-inspired flavors. One fan favorite is the Rico Bagel.

“It’s phenomenal, it’s huge,” Harvey said. “It’s two eggs with cheese, bacon, avocado and chipotle mayo and any kind of bagel we have. That’ll keep you full for probably two days.”

Ruby’s also serves lunch sandwiches, including ham and cheese, pastrami, corned beef, grilled cheese and turkey. The menu features salads and avocado toast, which can be topped with bacon, eggs and a variety of seasonings.

To go with their food, customers can order espresso drinks, lattes and coffee brewed using beans from local roaster King Bean Coffee.

The shop has been named Best Bagel in Charleston County for the past three years and recently won Best Bagel in South Carolina.

“A lot of people in the Northeast have been moving down here from New York and the tri-state area and we’ve now converted quite a lot of Lowcountry people who lived here their whole lives to bagels,” Harvey said.

Other locations include Summerville, North Charleston, West Ashley, Mount Pleasant and the Carolina Park development.

While no exact opening date has been set, Ruby’s Bagels plans to open the new location in August or September. For the latest updates, follow the shop on Instagram and Facebook.
