A familiar location in Coligny Plaza is getting a flavorful upgrade.

Slowcountry BBQ and Grill is opening in the former Forrest Fire BBQ space at 1 N. Forest Beach Drive, next to FISH Casual Coastal Seafood.

According to The Island Packet, Lee and Heather Lucier and JR and Leslie Richardson remain the owners, while new management is shifting the restaurant toward a fresh culinary direction focused on a more immersive and relaxed dining experience.

Guests will now order at the counter and have meals delivered to their tables—replacing the former tray-and-slide cafeteria-style setup.

While the menu still features smoked staples like brisket and pulled pork, it’s expanding to include hand-pattied burgers, crispy chicken, hearty sandwiches and a range of Southern sides. Upcoming menu additions include a brisket sloppy joe and a fried chicken sandwich.

A buy-one-get-one-free lunch special is available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring sandwiches like burgers, chicken, pulled pork and brisket.

Slowcountry BBQ and Grill is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a daily happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m.
