A new Mexican restaurant is coming to Myrtle Beach’s Surfside neighborhood.
Sol Cocina Mexicana is set to open at 4100 Holmestown Road, Unit 4, according to the Horry County Zoning Board of Appeals.
On August 11, the board reviewed a request from Sol Cocina Mexicana to serve alcohol inside its new restaurant and bar at the Tiffany Park Commercial Center in the Holmestown Center. Built in 2020, the center’s location sits closer than the normally required 500 feet from nearby homes. The site borders a single-family house on one side and townhomes to the rear. If approved, the restaurant would be allowed to serve alcohol indoors only, with no outdoor drinking or dining permitted.
Sol is owned by Chef Armando Cobian, who also leads its culinary program.
The menu features salads, quesadillas, enchiladas and tacos, all made with fresh, homemade corn tortillas and served with black beans.
Specialty entrees include Camarones a la Diabla, with sautéed shrimp, onions, fire-roasted tomatoes, chilies and spicy salsa, served with Mexican white rice; Pollo al Chipotle, featuring grilled all-natural chicken breast, sautéed mushrooms, black beans, melted cheese, fire-roasted tomatoes and salsa; and Chiles Rellenos, traditional fire-roasted poblano peppers stuffed with queso Oaxaca, served with white rice and roasted jalapeño salsa.
While Sol has not yet announced an opening date, the restaurant shared via Facebook, “Coming soon. We are working on it, and it’s going to be on Surfside area. We are so excited to be back and cook for you all.”
