Mount Pleasant is getting a taste of the ’Burgh this January as a Pittsburgh-inspired pizza shop opens a new location.
Steel City Pizza Company will debut at 401 Faison Road. The move follows the closure of its Ben Sawyer Boulevard location on Dec. 14, the company announced on Facebook.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the memories, the regulars, and the community that supported us here. Thank you for 20 years of love and support. This isn’t goodbye—it’s the beginning of a whole new chapter. We’ll see you in January at our new Carolina Park location in North Mt. Pleasant,” the shop wrote.
Steel City Pizza Company is known for its “City Pies,” including “The Steel City Special”, which comes topped with old-world pepperoni, mushrooms, red onion, green pepper, black olives and Italian sausage, along with classics like white, pepperoni, veggie and buffalo chicken. Cauliflower crust is available.

The pizzeria also serves “Steelwiches,” including its top seller, “The South SideWeggie.” It’s stacked with old-world pepperoni, all-natural ham, hard salami, smoked capicola, a mozzarella-provolone blend, lettuce, tomato, red onion and homemade Italian dressing.
Wings, salads, wraps, pasta dishes and “Doughzerts” made with homemade dough round out the menu.
The shop operates two other locations in the Charleston area–one in Summerville and another in North Charleston. Customers can still get their pizza fix there while the Mount Pleasant shop gets ready to serve up.
Steel City Pizza Company hasn’t announced an opening date yet, however visit the website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
