The team behind Taste of India is launching a new restaurant concept in Charleston.
Curry Palace owned by the Bhalla family is expected to debut at 652 St. Andrews Blvd. in the former La Bonne Franquette space this fall, according to a post in Charleston-Lowcountry Eats Facebook group.
La Bonne Franquette permanently closed its doors in August.
“The decision has not been easy for me and I’ve tried to consider all alternatives but life takes unexpected turns. Your support and loyalty from the moment we started throwing paint on the building has meant the world to me. We have loved spending special moments with you and will miss our times with you. Many of you have become a family for us and we hope to see you in our future chapters,” the former restaurant shared via Facebook.
The new concept will follow in the footsteps of Taste of India, established in the 1980s, known for its authentic North Indian cuisine. According to the website, it uses the freshest spices and ingredients to ensure every dish lives up to the restaurant’s long-standing reputation.
Numerous individuals in the comment section expressed excitement for Curry Palace’s debut.
“Can’t wait to try it!!! Loved La Bonne Franquette! Looking forward to some great curries! I wish them great success!” Jennifer Jerome commented.
“Mo curry less problems,” Scott Woolum added.
“I think this might actually work at that location because Indian food works so well for take out. You can just zip in, pick up and zip out!” Mariana Saavedra said.
Curry Palace is set to welcome its first customers at the end of November.
What Now Charleston reached out to the Bhalla family, however, they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
