Caribbean cuisine is coming to Mount Pleasant.

Taste of the Islands, owned by Sonia and Preston Diedrick, will be situated in the former Celt Irish Pub at 2700 N. Hwy 17, Suite 120, restaurant broker Mike Santos of The Commonwealth Company told What Now Charleston.

The 2,993 square-foot restaurant was sold through listingledge.com.

The restaurant is currently serving customers from its West Ashley location at 630 Skylark Drive.

The restaurant serves a variety of Caribbean-inspired dishes. Starters include saltfish and conch fritters, calamari and wings with sauces such as jerk and honey garlic. Wraps, quesadillas and loaded cheese fries round out the appetizer options.

Signature dishes include beef oxtail, brown stewed meats, curried goat and seafood options like red snapper and coconut-crusted shrimp. Lunch specials and sandwiches feature tacos, burgers, rice bowls and jerk chicken sandwiches.

Vegetarian and lighter options include veggie plates, curried tofu, and salads. Desserts highlight Caribbean flavors with sweet potato pie, rum cake, bread pudding and Jamaican patties.

“Taste of the Islands features authentic cuisine from around the Caribbean, using the freshest ingredients to create what promises an unforgettable culinary experience,” the website reads.

While it’s unclear if the new location will follow West Ashley’s hours, it is open Sunday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

What Now Charleston reached out to Taste of the Islands, however they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
