A popular Greek-inspired restaurant is making a comeback in the Charleston area this summer after a five-year hiatus.

Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe is set to open July 8, 2025, at the Indigo Square shopping center in Mount Pleasant.

“If all construction and permits go well, then that’s the date we’re shooting for,” Operating Partner Stephen Sommers told What Now Charleston. “We’ve had to push it back.”

According to The Post and Courier, the 1,688-square-foot café will feature a large community table, outdoor patio seating, and convenient pickup shelves for to-go orders. The team also plans to hire about two dozen employees.

Taziki’s menu focuses on fresh, healthy and flavorful Mediterranean dishes, with options that can be prepared gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan. Guests can expect crisp salads, classic gyros, and pita wraps topped with signature hummus and tzatziki sauces. The café also offers family feasts designed to serve four to six people, along with daily specials paired with chips and a side.

Sommers told What Now Charleston that while the menu will remain the same, the Mount Pleasant location will feature a few new updates.

“The only difference is that we’re doing a closed kitchen instead of usually having an open kitchen,” Sommers said.

Taziki’s first Charleston location operated for eight years at 306 King Street before closing in 2019.

The new Mount Pleasant café will mark the fourth Taziki’s in South Carolina, joining existing locations in Columbia, Greenville, and Simpsonville.

Founded in Birmingham, Alabama, the chain has expanded steadily over the past 27 years and now operates more than 100 locations across 18 states.
