Surcheros, a fast-casual Tex-Mex chain with stores throughout Georgia and Florida, is set to make its South Carolina debut in Beaufort Station. A representative for Surcheros confirmed that the franchised location is owned by Doug Puryear and Brian Smith.

Surcheros is similar to Chipotle in that it allows patrons to order at the counter and build their own burrito or bowl. Customers can choose between grilled chicken, ground beef, carnitas or, for a little extra, sirloin steak. There are a variety of toppings like rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo, fresh vegetables and, unlike Chipotle, free guacamole. They also offer salads, tacos, nachos and quesadillas.

The Georgia-based chain was founded by Luke Christian in 2007 and has expanded to around 30 restaurants throughout Georgia and Florida

Beaufort Station is set to open by the the end of this year. Previously named tenants at the 200,000 square-foot retail center include Parker’s Kitchen, Chicken Salad Chick, Panda Express, PetSmart, HomeGoods, Ulta and more. Once open, Beaufort Station will be one of the largest shopping centers between Savannah and Charleston.
