Unwinding over charcuterie and wine with waterfront views will soon be a reality, as Surfside Beach welcomes a new spot.
“I can guarantee it’s not going to look like anything else on the beach,” Operating Manager Jimmy Curry told What Now Charleston. “It’s a little more upscale and more relaxing with a million dollar view.”
The Whistling Duck, from owners Mike and Rebecca Wallace, is set to open soon at the Surfside Beach Pier.
The new spot will serve charcuterie boards made with organic produce and locally sourced cheeses, alongside a selection of salads and sandwiches. Curry said the rest of the menu is still in development but confirmed plans for dinner service, rotating specials, craft beers and specialty wines—though that’s all he was willing to uncork for now.
The wine program will be led by advanced sommelier Jodi Bronchtein, whose passion for wine will shine through a carefully curated selection designed to elevate the dining experience.
“My business partner, Rebecca, this is all her–her concept, her vision,” Curry said. “She’s been coming to Surfside Beach for a long time and loves charcuterie boards, bruschettas, salads, sandwiches and healthier alternatives. There’s not a lot of that around here.”
Beyond a love for meat and cheese, the pier holds a special significance for the Wallaces.
“It was here where Mike proposed to Rebecca under the vibrant Fourth of July fireworks. This spot inspired their dream of creating a unique dining experience, and celebrating their cherished memories,” the restaurant’s website reads.
An official opening date for The Whistling Duck has not been announced, but the team aims to debut by late fall after completing inspections.
