Customers can expand their palates and explore unique flavor combinations at this cozy Southern-style eatery.

Tootsie’s Everything Waffle, located at 473 Quinby Plaza Way, features creative sweet and savory waffle dishes with a twist.

Owner Courtney McClain described the restaurant to the Post and Courier as a modernized mom-and-pop shop with a warm, homey feel—just like grandma’s house.

According to the article, Executive Chef Savanya Smith has been cooking since she was seven, inspired by the women who taught her their culinary skills, including her mother, known as “Tootsie.”

The menu features classic chicken and waffles for those who prefer a traditional taste, along with several creative Southern-inspired options. The “Low Country” pairs a grits-infused waffle with Cajun-spiced shrimp, while the “Southern Kat” offers a cornbread-style waffle topped with two pieces of fried catfish and served with a dirty rice blend. For a heartier option, the “Soul Touch” includes two Southern-fried turkey wings served over a sweet potato waffle, topped with Gouda mac and cheese.

The “Southern Kat” quickly became a fan favorite during Tootsie’s early days as a pop-up at local venues and events.

On Saturdays, the restaurant will offer an expanded brunch menu featuring exclusive items not available during the week, including “waffle flights” with mini versions of their signature dishes. Weekend guests can also indulge in “dessert flights” showcasing treats like peach cobbler and banana pudding waffles.

Both McClain and Smith set out to elevate Florence’s food scene by offering more than the typical chicken-and-waffle dishes, bringing bold, inventive flavors to the table.

“Tootsie’s is your home away from home,” their website reads. “Whether you’re catching up with friends, celebrating over Mimosas or diving into a plate of Bayou Benedict with crispy salmon, we promise every bite will taste like home.”

The waffle joint is expected to open in mid-to-late June. In addition to the dining room, guests can enjoy board games in the “Waffle Den” and are welcome to host events and parties in the “Syrup Lounge.”

Tootsie’s Everything Waffle will be open Monday and Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The business is closed on Wednesday and Thursday.
