Bartaco is looking to expand its footprint in the Charlotte market with a second location, according to reporting by Jason Thomas.
The chain appears to be heading to the location at Atherton Mill that housed Luna’s Living Kitchen, a vegan restaurant that closed earlier this year after 12 years in the space. It is located at 2000 South Blvd in South End.
Bartaco has just started making inroads in the Charlotte market, opening its first local location at Birkdale Village earlier this year. As of now, it has three locations in North Carolina, with spots in Chapel Hill and Raleigh.
The chain began in Port Chester, New York, in 2010. Now, Bartaco lists 33 locations across 14 states on its website. The chain serves tacos with meat options that range from glazed pork belly to sesame ribeye. Other menu items include ceviche, esquites, poke, rice bowls and chips.
“Bartaco is inspired by the beach culture of Brazil, Uruguay and Southern California,” the Bartaco website states. “We are upscale street food with a coastal vibe in a relaxed environment. We are freshly-squeezed juices, specialty cocktails and beer out of a bottle. Bartaco evokes a visit to a stylish beach resort and creates an unforgettable experience.”
An exact timeline is unclear at this time for the South End location as the spot is still in the early stages of development. Reporting by Jason Thomas indicates that plans include interior renovation and construction of a full bar and patio.
