Casual coastal-inspired taco chain Bartaco is part of the new tenant lineup slated to join the Commonwealth development in Plaza Midwood.
It joins fast-casual salad spot Sweetgreen, hair removal service SugaringLA and cold plunge studio Sweathouz, according to reporting by Jason Thomas. Other tenants already announced include The Salty Donut and Uchi.
Bartaco currently has a location at Birkdale Village, and it has two other spots in North Carolina in Chapel Hill and Raleigh. The chain is also expected to open a location in South End, as previously reported by What Now Charlotte.
Bartaco offers a variety of tacos, including baja fish, spiced chicken verde, seared chorizo and falafel. Other offerings include margaritas, guac and chips and rice bowls.
The chain began in Port Chester, New York, in 2010, and since then it has expanded to more than 30 locations across 14 states.
“We are upscale street food with a coastal vibe in a relaxed environment,” the Bartaco website states. “We are freshly-squeezed juices, specialty cocktails and beer out of a bottle. Bartaco evokes a visit to a stylish beach resort and creates an unforgettable experience.”
More tenants are still on the way for the Commonwealth development. Along with the other tenants, Bartaco is expected to open by this fall, according to Axios Charlotte.
