Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill is going into Concourse D at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in the concession space formerly home to the Original Rum Bar & Grill.

Renovations began in January at the 3,174-square-foot space, with plans for an early summer opening, according to reporting by the Charlotte Business Journal.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar began the brand in a collaboration with HMSHost, a major airport food and beverage operator. Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill currently has locations in Cleveland, Las Vegas, Maui and Honolulu.

“Sammy Hagar arrived at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame having sold millions of records and rocked thousands of concert stages around the world,” the Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill states. “When he started the Cabo Wabo Cantina in Cabo San Lucas, he never dreamed that its popularity would lead to a growing restaurant franchise in America.”

The brand has a casual, beachy atmosphere and provides nods to Hagar’s musical career. The menu consists of American cuisine with an island twist, with signature dishes like Cabo Wabo Ceviche, Beach Salad, Ahi Tuna Burger and Crispy Pescado Mahi Mahi.

The spot also offers a lineup of themed cocktails, featuring signature brands like Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, for the beverage program.
