Burr & Berry is preparing to open a fourth Charlotte-area location at 2905 Monroe Road near the edge of Elizabeth, co-owner Jason Cowan told WhatNow Charlotte in a recent interview.

The upcoming shop will be located between Tipsy Burro and Smokey Joe’s Café, with the team currently targeting a late summer opening.

Jason and Kelly Cowan launched Burr & Berry’s first location in Indian Land in 2019. Since then, the locally owned coffee concept has expanded with additional locations on South Boulevard and Monroe Road in southeast Charlotte.

As the company grows, Cowan said Burr & Berry has remained focused on the same principles that shaped the brand from the beginning. “Our mission is centered around three words: local, fast and kind,” Cowan said.

According to Cowan, that philosophy extends into the way the company approaches ownership and community involvement. “We’re just a small local company with local owners, and we own and operate everything,” Cowan said. “We’re very involved in the daily operations of the business.”

Beyond its coffee program, Cowan said Burr & Berry has built a following through rotating monthly drink specials, weekend doughnut offerings and collaborations with local vendors throughout the Charlotte area. “It’s another way that we support other local businesses here in town,” Cowan said.

The concept primarily operates as a drive-thru coffee business while also offering walk-up service and patio seating at select locations. Cowan said the menu features coffee, espresso drinks, cold brew, chai, matcha, teas and seasonal specialty beverages, with a strong emphasis on customization through a wide variety of syrups and flavor options.

“We really like for people to be able to customize their drinks and get exactly what they want,” Cowan said.

The menu also includes pastries, muffins, scones and cookies sourced from local bakers and delivered throughout the week.
