Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is renovating its Stonecrest at Piper Glen restaurant at 7716 Rea Road in Charlotte, a move detailed by the Charlotte Business Journal.
The roughly 7,500-square-foot location is being updated with a larger bar, an open-air patio, and additional interior improvements. The project represents the most significant remodel in the company’s 25-year history, as CEO Steve Kislow described in the publication. Construction is expected to wrap by mid-summer 2026, with the restaurant remaining open and much of the work taking place overnight.
Firebirds operates six locations across the Charlotte market.
A new restaurant is also planned for Concord at the northeast corner of Christenbury Parkway and Cox Mill Road. The roughly 6,200-square-foot space is expected to open in 2027 and would bring the brand’s total to seven locations in the region, based on the Business Journal’s reporting.
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill has more than 60 locations nationwide, based on prior WhatNow reporting. That footprint has since grown to 69 restaurants across 21 states, with additional openings planned for 2026 and 2027, the publication reports.
On its website, Firebirds describes its concept as centered on open-flame cooking, with a menu featuring hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, and other wood-grilled items, alongside a bar-forward dining experience.
WhatNow Charlotte reached out to Kislow for comment, but had not received a response at the time of publication.
