Friends Colleen Fleming, Alyssa Lehnert and Jillian Snider are coming together to open Flora Coffee at 221 Cherry Road in Rock Hill.
“What began as three coworkers bonding over plants, coffee and a mutual appreciation of beautiful things has finally materialized into something we are immensely proud of: Flora Coffee,” the team states on their Instagram. “We are so excited to serve you specialty coffee, thoughtfully curated food offerings, house-made baked goods and lovely plants for your home.”
The team announced that they received the keys to the space in February and have been working on beautifying the space. As they have been preparing their brick-and-mortar location, they have been serving coffee at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market.
The three founders all have experience working at cafes and discovered a passion for coffee. Lehnert’s coffee journey began in her family-owned specialty coffee shop when she was younger. Fleming left her corporate job in 2021 and developed a love for specialty coffee while working at cafes in the Charlotte area. Snider has been working in the industry since college as a barista, head roaster and coffee educator. She is also the owner of the Queen City Coffee Crawl.
“To say it has been a dream of mine to start a cafe would be an understatement, but to be able to start this venture in my hometown of Charlotte with two like-minded, passionate friends truly is the cherry on top,” Snider said in an Instagram statement.
As of now, the exact opening timeline remains unclear. An interview with one of the owners is forthcoming.
