Mister O1 is charting expansion into North Carolina. The brand has listed a location at 14020 Stream Way, Suite 110, at the Bowl at Ballantyne as “coming soon” on its website.
The Charlotte Business Journal reports that local hospitality group Onyx Brands, helmed by Todd Gallinek and Deepen Patel, is behind the forthcoming spot, with plans to open this coming fall.
The brand has its strongest hold in Florida, where chef Renato Viola founded the brand after immigrating to the U.S. from Southern Italy. Viola traveled under the O1 Visa category for “Extraordinary Artistic Ability” when he came to the U.S., inspiring the name for the brand.
Mister O1 has been expanding in other markets, as well. In addition to its 25 locations throughout Florida, it has six locations in Texas and two in Georgia, with one more on the way in the Atlanta area. The Bowl at Ballantyne location will usher Mister O1 into its fourth state.
The pizzas at Mister O1 are made with locally-sourced or Italian-sourced ingredients and are served with a thin crust and light dough. Menu items include Hawaiian pizza, meat lovers, Vittoria (which includes roasted chicken, Italian parmesan and basil) and Riccardo (with mushrooms, zucchini, spinach and a roasted red pepper puree). There are also “extraordinary” pizzas available, some of which are star-shaped, as well as dessert options like nutella pizza and a vegan hazelnut chocolate pizza.
Onyx Brands operates several fast-casual concepts in the Charlotte area, including PopUp Bagels, Biscuit Belly, Nothing But Noodles and Super Chix. Locations listed on the Onyx Brands website lists the PopUp Bagels location at the Bowl at Ballantyne as one of the group’s locations.
